Monash Public Library Service began operations in 1994 with the amalgamation
of the former Cities of Oakleigh and Waverley. The Library service is provided
through five branch libraries: Clayton, Glen Waverley, Mount Waverley, Oakleigh and
Wheelers Hill, as well as a Home Library Service. Specialist collections
are held in Community Languages, Genealogy and Local Studies. Online services, such as the Internet, Word Processing and CD-ROM are
provided.

Membership - How can I join?
- Membership is FREE.
- Proof of current address is required.
- Open to everyone - resident or non-resident.
- No minimum joining age.
- Under 18? - signature of parent or guardian is needed.

- You may borrow up to 30 items at any one time for up to 28 days.
- Videos,CDs and DVDs are limited to 6 per borrower for a period of 2
weeks.
- You can borrow at and return to any branch of Monash Public Library Service.
- Items may be reserved for a fee due at
time of allocation. Reservations may be made by phone or in person, or online through the catalogue.
- After hours return chutes are available at all libraries.
- A charge is made for overdue, lost or damaged items.Fees & Charges
- Renewals are available for non-reserved items.
- Renewals may be made in person or by phoning any branch, or online from
the Login to Your Cardlink
- Items may be renewed twice, except if reserved by another member.
- Reservations can be made by phoning or online or in person. To reserve online
use the catalogue first to locate the title.There is a charge for reservations.Fees & Charges
- A library card must be produced when borrowing. Exception will be given
if other formal identification with name and address can be shown
- Damage to items on loan must be reported to library staff on return of
items. Damage costs must be paid by card holder or guardian. Charges include

- Each member is entitled to one free membership card. A fee is charge for

- Lost or stolen cards should be reported immediately to the Library

Home Library Service
This service is for any person who is unable to travel to a branch of the Monash Public Library Service owing to ill-health or disability. Enquiries to Mount Waverley Library branch on 9807 5022
Technology
CD-ROM and Online Resources
PC's are available at all libraries to access a range of online resources.
Go to the Online Resources page to view the list
of databases available. Many databases are also available for members to use
from home.
Disability access PC (touch screen with mouse) is available at the Mount Waverley, Oakleigh and Glen Waverley branches.
Wireless internet (wifi) access is available at all branches of the library. Users of the library's wifi must be members and obtain a specific wifi password to use for their access. Conditions of use must be agreed to before access is available.
Word processing, fax and photocopying facilities are also available.Fees
& charges for these services. Word processing requires booking. Phone or visit your preferred branch or book online through the Book a PC link on the navigation menu..

Internet and wifi: General Conditions of Use
- Access is free.
- Internet and wifi users must be members of the Monash Public Library Service
- wifi users, on first use, must register and establish a wifi password
- A parent or guardian must register as guarantor for usersof the internet and wifi who are under 18 years
of age
- The parent/guardian accepts liability and responsibility for allowing
their child further access to the Internet facilities at Monash Public Library.
- Booking sessions for the internet are allowed for up to an hour per day per member
- Bookings can be made by phone to a branch in
open hours, online, or in the Library
- Bookings are forfeited ten minutes past the booking time if user has not
arrived
- Internet users are responsible for the cost of ALL printing as per the
charges determined annually by Council.Fees & Charges
- A maximum of two people per terminal allowed at one time.This allows general
browsing, accessing of sites, information searching and printing.
- The Library is not an email service provider; however, users have access
to email through external providers
- Members are responsible for all use of the facilities during sessions
they have booked
- Brief introductory sessions are available by appointment with Library
staff; however staff are generally not available for extensive help, particularly
during busy periods.
Users are encouraged to book into an introductory training session
- Material displayed on the screen must be appropriate to a Public Library
environment.
- Library members are responsible and liable for the operation of the Internet
during sessions they have booked, including the accessing, transmission,
displaying and printing of material.
- No liability or responsibility is accepted by the Library for the accessing,
transmission, displaying and printing of material from the Internet.
- Library members are responsible for abiding with all copyright, censorship
and other relevant laws and legislation, when accessing and or printing
material from the Internet
- Members must not transmit any material of an offensive or derogatory manner.

- Wireless internet access is available for members but conditions of use must be agreed to.

Word Processing
- Word Processing is available at all libraries.
- You are required to be a member of Monash Public Library Service.
- Members are required to bring their Monash Public Library Service card..
- Users are responsible for the cost of ALL printing as per the
charges determined annually by Council.Fees & Charges
- Bookings may be made up to a week in advance- online or in person, or by phone.
- Bookings will be forfeited 10 minutes past the booking time.
- Borrowers will need to be familiar with Word 2002 operating in a Windows environment.
Liability
Library members are responsible and liable for the operation of the PC during
sessions they have booked.
- No liability or responsibility is accepted by Monash Public Library Service
for the transfer of viruses through the use of the PC.
- Library members are responsible for abiding with all copyright, censorship
and other relevant laws and legislation.
Any user identified as breaching the above guidelines will be denied access
to the PC.
